Soil Biological Activity, Carbon and Nitrogen Dynamics in Modified Coffee Agroforestry Systems in Mexico

چکیده
(1) Background: Coffee agroforestry systems (CAFS) in Veracruz, Mexico, are being displaced by avocado monocultures due to their high economic value. This change can generate alterations the type of organic residues produced and soil biological activity (SBA) which is sensitive climatic variations, changes floristic composition, agronomic management. It be evaluated through respiration macrofauna, both related carbon (C) nitrogen (N) dynamics. The objective was to: Analyze variation SBA as well C N dynamics modified coffee systems; (2) Methods: Three CAFS (renewed, intensive pruning, with introduction avocados) an plantation were compared. evaluations conducted during period 2017–2019. Soil parameters (respiration, contents) content plant biomass measured plots 25 × m2 from three depths triplicate. Spearman’s test a principal component analysis performed determine structural dependence on dynamics; (3) Results: showed lowest values (with 193 g CO2 ha−1 h−1 at 0–10 cm depth), this system did not display macrofauna increased content. C/N ratio avocado. Correlation between litter-related positive, but it negatively correlated matter total nitrogen, explaining 67.7% variation; (4) Conclusions: Modification generated variations contents.

Soil carbon, microbial activity and nitrogen availability in agroforestry systems on moderately alkaline soils in northern India
The present investigation aimed to analyze the role of agroforestry systems in improving soil organic matter status, microbial activity and nitrogen availability with a view to effective management of the fertility of moderately alkaline soils. The study site was located at Karnal (29◦59′N, 76◦51′E, 250 m.s.l.) and the systems were characterized by a rice–berseem crop rotation; agrisilvicultura...
متن کاملChanges in Soil Organic Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Modified and Native Rangeland Communities (Case study: Sisab Rangelands, Bojnord)
Converting the native rangelands to simplified agronomic communities causessome changes in soil carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus. Establishing of perennial plantcommunities on formerly cultivated rangelands is expected to stabilize soil properties andincrease the amount of C, N, P stored in rangeland soils, but there is little information on whatplant communities are the most effective for impro...
متن کاملModeling soil microbial dynamics in carbon and nitrogen cycling
Goal To determine the relative importance of different mechanisms that influence carbon loss from soil under variable soil-moisture conditions. The soil contains more carbon than the atmosphere and plants combined (Scurlock and Hall 1998). This carbon is important for maintaining soil fertility, controlling erosion, and the long-term storage of carbon that could be released into the atmosphere....

15 صفحه اولCarbon sequestration in tropical agroforestry systems
Removing atmospheric carbon (C) and storing it in the terrestrial biosphere is one of the options, which have been proposed to compensate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Agricultural lands are believed to be a major potential sink and could absorb large quantities of C if trees are reintroduced to these systems and judiciously managed together with crops and/or animals. Thus, the importance of ...
